ORAL COMMUNICATIONS - (203) <br /> A. George H. McKibbin, 160 F Street, Redwood City, thanked the Council for City staff's <br /> help in working with the Mozart Development Company on its Circle Star Project, and <br /> with the problem Centennial Neighborhood had had with illegally parked trailers. <br /> Mayor Hartnett thanked all the Centennial Neighborhood members who had worked so <br /> hard and so well on resolving community issues in a mutually beneficial manner. <br /> B. Ronald Vane, 3124 Wessex Way, Redwood City, announced that his wife, Donna, who <br /> works at Schaberg Library, was working on the upcoming 40th anniversary celebration of <br /> Schaberg Library, July 18, 1997, and asked the Council and the community to lend <br /> assistance in all stages of this important celebration. <br /> C. Tamara Piulle, 960 Glennan Drive, Redwood City, showed the Council some of the items <br /> that will go into the time capsule to be placed in the new City Hall. Mrs. Piulle described <br /> the support of the Civic Cultural Commission and Historic Resources Advisory <br /> Committee members of time and resources for this endeavor, and thanked Engineering <br /> Manager Patterson, Architect Steve Haines, and Sequoia High School teacher Lydia <br /> Martinez for their support of the project. She announced videos were being taken of <br /> Redwood City as it is in 1997, including interviews with Council Members, and the time <br /> capsule was scheduled to be opened in fifty years. <br /> D. Manuel Sotomayor, 12 Riviera Circle, Redwood City, asked Council to schedule a <br /> community meeting in the Redwood Shores Neighborhood to discuss the sale of Bair <br /> Island to POST with the planned transfer to the Federal Wildlife Refuge, and the impact <br /> that will have on the much needed egress ITom the Redwood Shores Neighborhood to the <br /> Whipple Avenue/1O1 Interchange. Mr. Sotomayor said an emergency exit was critical in <br /> case of a cataclysmic event. He urged Council to initiate that dialogue as soon as possible. <br /> E. Don Saye, 2021 Broadway, Redwood City, asked Council to protect the new pavers on the <br /> Broadway sidewalks ITom future damage caused by food vendors during festivals and the <br /> Fourth of July parade. He asked that all food vendors be given space to set up in the <br /> closed street area, and not on the new sidewalks. <br /> MEMO 5/7/97 <br /> F. Pete Hughes, 18 Admiralty Court, announced a great program to support Bosnian <br /> youngsters living in a country trying to rebuild its communities and its faith. "Balls for <br /> Bosnia", a way to buy sports equipment for the youth of Bosnia, will be held Wednesday, <br /> May 28 at the Sequoia Club, 1695 Broadway, and is only $10 for dinner and lots of fun. <br /> The entire $10 will be used to buy sports equipment for Bosnian youth. Mr. Hughes urged <br /> everyone to support this very worthwhile event.
