Year End Update and Adjustments to FY 1996/97 Budget;
REPORT: Finance Director Ponty, June 2, 1997
Finance Director Ponty presented the staff report and explained that most of the
adjustments proposed had already been approved by the Council during the fiscal year.
The City Charter and Budget Ordinance require formal budget action be taken in the form
of an ordinance. He described the net changes totaling $2.4 million which included $1.3
million directly related to the new fire station in the Redwood Shores Neighborhood.
Other adjustments included $547,000 (22%) related to grants not known at the time of the
budget adoption, 11 % relating to retroactive portion of a labor agreement and the police
staffing study. Director Ponty said the balance (13%) consisted of items which arose
during the year and were overlooked or not known at the time the budget was prepared
over a year ago.
INTRODUCTION OF ORDINANCE:
MIS: CLAIRE/LA BERGE. I am not prepared to do that yet.
I understand this is a technical matter to have that money allocated, but I am not ready to
do it until I see some sort of agreement, and understand what exactly it is I am being asked
to purchase. I will be voting no on this Ordinance."
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 JUNE 2,1997
MINUTES Page No. 366 PAGE 10
