STAFF REPORTS
A. Redwood Shores Landscaping Maintenance District No. 1995-1 (506)
REPORT: Senior Civil Engineer Vorametsanti, June 9,1997
Engineer Vorametsanti presented the staff report and sununarized Council's past actions
-- which included a unanimous vote establishing the District. He advised that Proposition
218, effective January 1, 1997, requires district participants to vote on any change in
assessment.
Engineer Vorametsanti used overheads to describe the district boundaries, from the bay
to Steinberger Slough, SBSA property to Shearwater Blvd. He said every landowner in
that defined district would pay the assessment to maintain landscaping at a higher level
than would otherwise be normally provided by the City. He said installation costs were
bome by the developers or the GID 1-64. Engineer Vorametsanti advised that the owners
association desired an even higher level of maintenance for several areas so removed them
from Landscaping Maintenance District No. 1995-1 to take care of them on their own.
Engineer Vorametsanti said that during the conceptual planning stage of the Lido
Neighborhood development, the Master Developer indicated this would be a first class
project that would be envied by its surrounding communities. He said that would entail a
lot of well maintained open space, and the developer and staff agreed that it would need
more landscaping maintenance services than what City staff provided in the rest of the
City. Everyone agreed that an Assessment District would be appropriate in this case, and
it was put into the Specific Plan for that neighborhood.
-
ADJOURNED REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 JUNE9,1997
MINUTES Page No. 395 PAGE 9
