Vice Mayor Howard announced that on Sunday, June 29, the Peninsula Christian Center <br /> is having a "Love America" service from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, 1305 Middlefield Road, <br /> phone 368-3821. Vice Mayor Howard said she attended the service last year and it was a <br /> wonderful experience. She encouraged everyone to attend. <br /> B. Vice Mayor Howard invited everyone to attend the annual Pride and Beautification <br /> Awards reception and ceremony, July 14, 1997 at 7:00 p.m., 401 Marshall, Redwood City. <br /> She said this year there were 33 nominations, including Redwood City's most edible <br /> garden. Vice Mayor Howard encouraged everyone to attend. <br /> C. Mayor Hartnett announced that last week the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors <br /> accepted Redwood City's alternate proposal for fire protection services covering Area 8, <br /> the Fair Oaks neighborhood and adjacent unincorporated areas. He said the formal <br /> contract was being prepared and the effective date will be July 1, 1997. Introduction and Overview <br /> Finance Director Ponty described this evening's presentation including updates and <br /> financial changes as well as staff recommendations to amend the second year of the <br /> two year budget that Council approved in concept a year ago. He advised that the City <br /> Charter required the Council to adopt one financial plan at a time, and the FY 1997/98 <br /> Budget Ordinance reflecting Council direction would be introduced at the Council <br /> Meeting ofJuly 14, 1997. <br /> a. Review where we are in the process - second year of a two-year budget; <br /> Using overheads, Finance Director Ponty reviewed some of the major events and <br /> programs that are expected to occur in 1997/98: <br /> .
