PUBLIC HEARINGS
A. Public Hearing to consider the proposed 1997/98 Fiscal Plan: (501)
Affidavit of Notice of Publication is on file in the City Clerk Department.
1) Staff report;
City Manager Everett advised that the proposed Ordinance includes all the requests
made by the Council during the study session of May 23,1997.
2) Open public hearing;
Mayor Hartnett opened the public hearing at 8:28 p.m.
3) Hear public comment;
A. Peter Hughes, 18 Admiralty Court, referred to the budget items, sewer and
water enterprise funds, projected for $19.4 million, and expenses are projected at
$16 million, leaving a $3.4 million profit. He questioned where those funds
would be spend. Secondly, Mr. Hughes said it was his understanding that the
Emergency Hunger Fund was supposed to receive $10,000 right away and
another $10,000 after an adequate financial record had been submitted. He
reminded Council that his wife, Ginny Hughes had submitted the Council-
requested financial report. He said the second $10,000 had been left out of the
budget. Thirdly, Mr. Hughes said there was $173,000 budgeted for City
Council, and since Council Members make $500 per month he was wondering
what expenditures were anticipated for the balance of those funds.
REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING MINUTE BOOK NO. 55 JULY 14,1997
MINUTES Page No. 446 PAGE 9
