<br /> In response to Vice Mayor Howard's concems, City Manager Everett advised that <br /> Mr. Dan Smith, traffic calming consultant hired by the City, had a death in his family <br /> and had been unable to complete his assignment. City Manager Everett said Mr. Smith <br /> was aware of the urgency of this matter and would submit a new calendar shortly. <br /> Mayor Hartnett said that this matter needed immediate attention with or without Mr. <br /> Smith, and asked City Manager Everett to look into this matter and also provide <br /> Council with more information at the next meeting. <br /> MEMO 8/26/97 <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ <br /> 2. Q. by Councilman Leipzig for consideration immediately following adoption of the Consent <br /> Calendar. <br /> 2.8. by Vice Mayor Howard for consideration immediately following adoption of the Consent <br /> Calendar. <br /> Mayor Hartnett called on those members of the audience who wished to speak to Items on <br /> the Consent Calendar. <br /> Pete Hughes, 18 Admiralty Court, said the new Council Chamber was not imperial as he had <br /> feared it would be, but "represents a good Council Chamber for a working man's town." Mr. <br /> Hughes, member of Redwood City 2000, commented on Item 2.1., stating he had recently <br /> reevaluated the effectiveness ofRC 2000 and his original opposition to Council involvement. <br /> He said he had come to the conclusion that it would be useful for the Council to take a more <br /> active role in Redwood City 2000, to provide guidance and goals. <br /> Councilman Leipzig said he had not supported Redwood City 2000 at its inception, and <br /> asked questions about the budget.
