Redwood City General Plan <br /> 9.A. - Page 15 2013 Annual Report <br /> Public Safety Element <br /> Adoption: October 11, 2010 <br /> Amendments: <br /> • Resolution 1506: Adoption of the New General Plan (October 11, 2010) <br /> Summary: The Public Safety Element addresses public safety issues that affect <br /> Redwood City, and promotes prevention, public education, and emergency <br /> preparedness as the approaches that will allow the community to minimize risks to life <br /> and property in the event of a disaster. The Public Safety Element contains the following <br /> Chapters: Atmosphere and Climate, Hazards Management, and Noise. With regard to <br /> Atmosphere and Climate, the City is actively working with BAAQMD to properly identify <br /> sensitive receptors and mitigation measures. <br /> Highlights of Accomplishments: <br /> • The City replaced 275 low and high pressure sodium street lights with new LED <br /> street lights (Program PS-12: New Technologies). <br /> • The City Council approved a GHG emissions reduction target of 15 percent <br /> below 2005 levels by 2020 as part of the Climate Action Plan (Program PS-13: <br /> Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Targets). <br /> • The City Council approved the Climate Action Plan (Program PS-14: Climate <br /> Action Plan). <br /> • As part of the Inner Harbor Specific Plan, sea level rise strategies are being <br /> evaluated for that limited area, but are envisioned to provide information and <br /> direction for analysis and action elsewhere in the City (Program PS-16: Sea <br /> Level Rise Response Strategy). <br /> Natural Resources Element <br /> Adoption: October 11, 2010 <br /> Amendments: <br /> • Resolution 1506: Adoption of the New General Plan (October 11, 2010) <br /> Summary: The Natural Resources Element focuses on preserving, protecting, <br /> conserving, re-using, and efficiently using Redwood City's natural resources. The <br /> Natural Resources Element contains the following Chapters: Water Resources, Energy <br /> Conservation, Natural Habitat and Open Space, and Urban Forest. <br /> Highlights of Accomplishments: <br /> • Adoption of the Lawn Replacement Rebate Program and the Voucher Program <br /> for High-Efficiency Sprinkler Nozzle Replacement Program (Program NR-1: <br /> Water Conservation Programs). <br /> • Drought-tolerant planting materials have been incorporated as part of the <br /> Redwood Creek Trail Project (Program NR-8). <br /> 10 1 <br />
