In the City Collector� s <br /> opinion and in view of the fact that the County had discontinued this practice of keeping <br /> ! open on Saturdays was nvt considered necessary he a�ked that the ordinance be amended <br /> eliminating Saturday oper�ing. Councilman Spillers moved that the City Attorney prepare <br /> the necessary amendment, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried. <br /> CITY ATTORNEY CURRIE REPORTED ON THE RECENT REQUEST OF SHORELINE PLANNING ASSOCIATION F0� A <br /> RESOLUTION supporting the present practice of utilizing oil royalty monies for Beaches <br /> and Parks. Mr. Currie was of the opinion that this ac�ion was not feasible at this time <br /> and the Clerk was directed to file the communication. <br /> �,,, CITY MANAGER ROLISON BRQUGHT UP THE SUBJE.CT OF THE PROPt�SED SIDEW.AL�S ON BROAI�iVAY between <br /> � <br /> Main and Chestnut Streets. City Engineer Jain had recommended that these sidewalks be <br /> constructed under an assessment district which �rould require a 6/7th Council vote to <br /> overrule a ma�ority of protests. City Attorney Currie stated that the City Engineer <br /> could be directed to go ahead on preparing plans and specifications after which the <br /> neceasary legal procedure could be commenced. Councilman Britschgi then moved that tha <br /> City Engineer proceed with the plans and specifications and that the Auditor be author- <br /> ized to adnance the necessary funds from the General Fund to be replaced frvm the <br /> Qsaessment, seconded by Councilman Spillers. In order that the thoug�ts of the Council <br /> might be on record regardin� this ordering of the work dons, a roll call vote �ras re- <br /> corded indicating a unanimous consent to the above proceedings on the part of the Council. <br /> CITY MANAGER ROLISON DISCUSSED THE MATTER OF S TREET LIGHTS ON EL CAMINO REAL from Five Points <br /> south to a point opposite Selby Lane. The lighting on the City side of El Camino Real <br /> � <br /> appeared to be satisfactory, however, the County side vras being lig�ited by the Menlo <br /> �.� <br /> Lighting District. Contact with the Pacific Gas 8c Electric Company resulted in the <br /> suggestion that the District mig�it increase the size of the li�ts if requested to do so <br /> by the City Council. Councilman Spillers then moved that the City Manager contact the <br /> '""" proper parties and attempt to have the lighting improved as noted above, seconded by <br /> �.� Councilman Britschgi and carried. This xas placed on the agenda for February 15th. <br /> ZT3E PACIFIC GAS 8c ELECTRIC CONiPANY SUBMITTED A BILL IN THE AMOtTNT QF �212.71 against the <br /> Citg arising out of a fire at the City Dump on October 21}th, 1953• The City Attorney� s <br /> office has forwarded a copy of the bill to �Ir. Joly with recommendation that he refer <br /> same to his inaurance company with directions to pay the same. <br /> COMMUNICATIQN RECEIVED FROM DOUGLASS & WOODHOUSE REGARDING THE ASSESSMENT JOB ON STAMBAUGH <br />
