8
~ assessrnent district. The only reasonable and practical solution that the Engineering
Department could see for this area would be for the City Council to establish an
overall drainae assessment district in this area for the construction of storm drains ,
acquisition of easements, etc. for the eventual dispositi on of the drainage waters
into the existing storm sewer system constructed by Land Development and Investment
Compan in Redvuood Industrial Tracts No. 1 and No. 2, the nearest entrance being approx-

imately 1600 feet distant at Bay Road and the westerly limits of Redwood Industrial
Tract No. l, approaimatelg 2000 feet f'rom Pine Street, and lt}.00 feet from the Spruce
Street limtts. Mayor Herkner turned a sketch over to the City Engineer outlining the ditch .r
and propertg concerned in the drainage system. He stated further that he thought the
work could be done in about a weeks time and that the cost would be sma.11. Ciy Attorney Currie
stated that the problem witY this agreement is that thare would be a service charge
covering induatries with sprinkler sstems and this cYlarge could be issued on a
water bill. After discussion it was learned that no official action had been taken
on amortization of 20 years at present interest ratea in addition to serroice charge
of 3.00 a month for reading of ineter, etc. Councilman Royer moved that they proceed
with the inatallation of a water pipe for fire protection and the 20 year amortization „,
be on the actual amount of this particular job at current interest rates, seconded by
..
Councilman Britschgi and carried. Councilman Britschgi moved that the City Attorney
be instructed to amend the water rules to cover the service charge of 3.00, seconded
by Councilman Royer and carried.
RESOLUTION No. 1691 URGIIVG CONGRESS T 0 BACK IE PACIFIC COAST SH IPYARDS. Councilman
Britschgi moved adoption of resolution endorsing study and action to prevent ship-
building and repair activity from falling below a level sufficient to provide an
acceptable mobilization base in times of emergen cy, seconded by Councilman Granger and
carried on roll call, Councilmen Spillers and Stout noted absent.
RESOLUTION No. 1692 ORDERING CONDEMM[ttATION ON PORTINS OF LOT 1, Block 8, Kensington Square
and Lot l, Block 9, Kensington Square.
