M. <br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmembers: Carl A. Britschgi, Floyd D. Granger, <br /> Paul Jones, Robert V. Spillers, Hiram S. Stout, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner, an.d City Clerk <br /> Ralph S. Dodge. Also present were: Cit�r Manager E. A. Rolison, City Attorney C. B. <br /> Currie, Senior Civil Engineer Melvin Moen, Police Chief S. D. Wood, Capt. Wm. Faulstich, <br /> Assessor-Auditor J. J. Brophy, Assistant Building Inspectors S. H. Kreiss, and B. C. <br /> Gyselbrecht, Water Superintendent H. L. Winter, City Collector P. E. Perrin, Park Super- <br /> intendent Pasco Balzarini, County Health Representative Peter Manson. Councilman Royer <br /> arrived at 8:40 A. �Q. <br /> ,.�. PERSONAL APPEAR.ANCE: Sheridan Lee, 420 Hillcrest Way, again appeared requesting water con- <br /> �� <br /> nection in the Emerald Lake area. Mr. Lee applied some six weeks ago and was denied his <br /> request. He stated that he had purchased property with the understanding that meters <br /> located in front of his lots would be available to him. Water Superintendent Winter <br /> explained the meters were set some years ago at the end of the City services but were <br /> serving customers beyond the end of the service on lines paid for by the customers. I�r. <br /> Lee was informed that he probabl� eould obtain refund of the purchase price of lots on <br /> the grounds of misrepresentation. In visw of Mr. Winters advice that there was insuffi- <br /> cient water on the line to serve an additional consumer. Councilman Britschgi moved <br /> denial of application, seconded by Councilman Jones, and carried, <br /> HEARING OF ABATEIV�NT PROCEEDINGS OF DAVIES BUILDING, 1104 Jefferson Avenue. The hearing was <br /> continued one week to allow Mr. Davies to contact department heads in an effort to ascer- <br /> tain whether or not the building could be repaired within the required 20� of replacement <br /> � <br /> cost as required by ordinance. Mr. Davies was to be prepared to submit figures secured <br /> � <br /> from contractors indicating estimates to bring the building up to Code. Mr. Davies <br /> stated he had a local electrician check over the building and had been informed that a. <br /> nominal amount of repairs would make the building safe from Fire hazard. A. Mr. Thompson <br /> �' had estimated that approximately� �200 would replace dangero us stairways. Hardware <br /> �' Mutual Insurance Companyts engineer had inspected th e building and made t he follow ing <br /> suggestions to correct the most glaring deficiencies from a fire insurance standpoint: <br /> 1. Replace �rorn out and weak steps. <br /> 2. Replace or repair handraila. <br /> �. Remove temporary w3.ring and have competent electrician ch�ck wiring. <br /> . Replace ille�al hose connection to heater. <br /> Dingman Electric Company estimated �300 to make wirin� safe. Mr. Davies offered further <br /> to agree in writing to tear building down within thres years. <br />
