M. <br /> The concensus of opinion on the Davies Building was that Mr. Daviss should bring in <br /> a written report from� contractors, and the enidence submitted by him was not acceptable. <br /> Councilman Britschgi moved that the matter be carried over to June 28th, Mr. Davies to <br /> submit a written statement estimating cost of repairs, said report to be submitted to <br /> the Building Department in time for check and recommendation back to the Council. <br /> � <br /> Said report to be submitted to Building Department on or before June 21st, Inspectors <br /> � <br /> to check same and be prepared to report findings at the Council meetiMg of June 28th. <br /> Motion seconded by Councilman Stout. Mr. Davies stated he would comply with these <br /> conditions. Motion carried. <br /> CLOSE-OUT SALE, VALREES CHILDREN SHOP, 2068 BROAD�lIiAY. Regular application was submitted � <br /> together with copy of riewspaper Ad. The reason for the sale was loss of lease. No "� <br /> merchandise would be brought in, the sale to cover stock on hand and fiatures only. <br /> City Collector Perrin stated that in his opinion this was a legitimate sale, and Coun- <br /> cilman Britschgi moved the permit be granted, limited to July 15, 1954• Motion seconded <br /> by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORT: Councilman Britschgi reported on the meeting with Stanford Rawing Asso- <br /> ciation. Meetin� consisting of Council Committee, Port Manager, Stanford representative <br /> and contractor had discussed the matter. It was not possible for a member of the Park <br /> and Recreation Commission to be present. A tentative location was selected. plans of <br /> the proposed building examined. Councilman Britsch gi stated it was unanimously under- <br /> stood that City Attorney Currie would prepare the necessary lease agreement, further <br /> that the Recreation Commission w ould have complete �urisdiction over the activities. •�„ <br /> City Attorne� Czarrie stated the Port Commissioners would agree to lease, providing the ,�,,, <br /> program meets with the Council' a approval. Councilman Jones moved approval on that <br /> basis, seconded by Councilman Royer. Councilman Stout asked to be assured that members <br /> of the Park and Recreation Commission be notified of �1,iture meeting. Motion carried. <br /> CONIMITTEE REPORT. Engineer Mel Moen reported that the sidewalks had been repaired on both <br /> sides of Roosevelt Avenue and Carson Street. Mr. Tornell nerified that sidewalks h ad <br /> been repaired, however, he stated t hat Sterling had not removed dirt at the locations <br /> where equipment was crossing sidewalks. San Francisco Water Company had erected fences <br /> and equipment was no longer entering the Hetch-Hetchy right-of-way. Mr. Mosn stated <br /> this matter was being taken care of. The report was accepted. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORT. Councilman Granger reported that one meeting of the Building Code Committee <br /> had been held, that seneral recommendations would be forthcoming in the near future. <br /> � <br /> Some understanding had been reached, namely, that the Council would be asked to <br /> .._� <br /> support the City Manager' s recommendation regarding hiring of a clerk in the Building <br /> Department; possible support of the San Mateo County Building Code which is more or <br /> less a stanc�ard Peninsula Code; some recognized policy for the Building Department to <br /> � <br /> follow as to structual design; possible additional employee as department appears to <br /> be understaffed.
