Councilman Britschgi suggested that the .Building Department obtain <br /> estimates of replaeement value from a co�etent contractor to check against �r. Councilman Britschgi s tated that the Water <br /> Comp�ny was in the process of discing vreeds, but was at prasent working on the old <br /> line. Weeds are growing rapidly on the new right-of-way and the residents in the area <br /> are complaining of the condition which in som�a instances is eausing hay fever and <br /> asthma. Councilman Britschgi was of t he opinion that the City ahould knock down these <br /> weeds while the heavy equipment is working in the vicinity, it being his contention <br /> that the �ob could be done for approximately �50 to �60. This figure was later con- <br /> firmed by the eng�.neers, and after discussion regarding the Cit� standing the eapense �* <br /> of billing the Water Company, the City Manager �►as authorized to proceed with a ,�,,,�„ <br /> limitation of �100. This was placed on the June 21st agenda. <br /> ORDINANCE CONTROLLING HEIGHT OF AWNINGS. Councilman Granger suggested an amendment to <br /> ordinance establishing a height of 7 fset. After discussion as to the jurisdiction <br /> over the present awnings of less than seven feet hei�t, Councilman Granger moved that <br /> the City Attorney prepare an amendment to control the hei�t of all future awnings, <br /> seconded by Councilman Britschgi , and carried on roll call, Councilman Stout voting PtO. <br /> INSURANCE REPRESENTATIVE. Councilman Granger commented on the recent appointment by the <br /> Insurance Brokers Association of a representative to hanctle City insurance business, <br /> calling attention to the fact that such an appointment should havee been referred to <br /> the Council for approval as ia the policy of long standing. After discussion, Council- <br /> man Jones moved approval of the appointment of George Boring Company as the official <br /> � <br /> , representative, seconded b y Councilman Royer. Councilman Stout stated his opinion <br /> ...,�. <br /> that there should be a letter from the Association, stating further that he would vote <br /> in the affirmative sub3ect to the receipt of such a letter.
