Councilman Jones then moved the matter be dropped and the recommenda- <br /> tion of the Planning Commission be rsjected, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried, <br /> Mayor. Fierkner stating he voted to drop the matter because of bad traffic conditions. <br /> REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON GARBAGE COLLECTIODT. Councilznan Granger reported that Ordinance 339� ad- ,,.a„� <br /> opted November 21, 1932, provided for the collection for removal and disposal of refuse <br /> � <br /> and established rates to be charged for collections in December 1932. Contract was entered <br /> into with San Mateo County Scavenger Association whereby t he City billed and collected the <br /> charges for which they received 20� of the a.mount collected, the balance of 80� paid to the <br /> � <br /> collector. In �91�3 the amount paid to the garbage collector was increased to 87�. Since <br /> Januar 1 `� <br /> � 933 there has been no increase in garbage rates. After.reviewing tha information <br /> supplied by the City Collector and Uhl.enberg & Company, the corrnnittee feels that a rate in- <br /> crease of approximately 30� is needed to take care of increased cost of collection. It is <br /> also recommended that this Committee be kept active to the end that after a reasonable trial <br /> period a review can be made and a possible recommendation for change of rates based on con- <br /> tainer sizes. It is also recomr�ended that the Committee meet again with the Collection Ag- <br /> ency to review the present five year contract and furthsr that the City Attorney be instruct- <br /> ed to prepare the necessary contract and an amendment to the Ordinance along the lines sug- <br /> gested above to be introduced at the mseting of June 28th. Councilman Granger then moved that <br /> the garba�e rates be increased approximately 30�, seconded by Councilman Jones. Then follow- <br /> ed discussion as to the length of the trial period of six months or one gear and a full dis- <br /> cussion of the rate of increase. It was decided that the rate of increase would be held to "'"�"" <br /> a 30� maximum with the understanding 'that Cornmittee will continue their work to bring back .�r <br /> any ideas they mi�ht have which would open the way to a.mmsnd basis . of collection charges. <br /> Motion carried unanimously. <br /> REPORT OF CO�TTEES: GITY MANAGER REPORT ON ABATENlENT OF WEEDS, HETCH-.T�TCHY RIGHT-OF-WAY. <br /> City Manager Rolison reported work had been completed by contractor and that the City of <br /> San Francisco had agreed to pay the bill. The total cost had not been fi�ured at this date <br /> but would be forthcoming in the near future. <br /> RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING REVISED SE'VYER RENTAL RATES FOR SCHOOLS. Resolution 1712 was offered by <br /> Councilman Britschgi who moved adoption, secorlded by Councilman Spillers and carried on roll <br /> call, Councilman Royer noted absent. <br /> RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO HOLD ANNEXATIOV ELECTION, HIGHLANDS TERRITORY N0. 2. Resolution 1713 <br /> was offered by Councilman Spillers who rnoved adoption, seconded by Councilman Britschgi �.� <br /> and carried on roll ca11, .Councilman Royer noted absent. <br /> .:_,;� <br /> RESOLUTION WAIVItdG RACIAL RESTRICTIONS ON ALL CITY DEEDS.
