Councilman Granger suggested the policy <br /> of installing controlled mikes which could be turned on and off as used. Counsilman Royer <br /> moved that this additional information be secured and reported at the August 30th meeting, <br /> �,,,, seconded by Councilman SpilZers and carried. <br /> � COMMITTEE REPORT: CITY MANACxER REPORT ON DUMP OPERATION AND RECOMMENDATION. City Manager <br /> Rolison reported that the Committee consisting of Councilman Stout, City Engineer Jain, <br /> Fire Chisf Lodi and himself had visited other dumps such as City of San Mateo and the <br /> Countg of San Mateo, however, the local area was inadequate and could not be improved <br /> � <br /> to compare with the dumps visited. The Committee had decided that the only thing to be <br /> � done at this time was to build a fence, solid metal six f'eet or more high to stop inflam- <br /> able materials from crossin� Harbor Boulevard. Councilman Stout reported that he had a line <br /> on some sheet metal, second hand, which he thought cauld be purchased at �2.00 per sheet. <br /> Councilman Stout then moved that matter be pla.ced on agenda for August 30th at which time <br /> he �vould make further report on the purchase of this sheet metal, motion seconded by <br /> Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> RECOMMENDATIONS AND SUGGESTIONS, CITY COUNCIL AND DEPARTMENT HEADS. <br /> COUNCILMAN JONES presented a letter which he had received from the SEQUOIA HOSPITAL TRUSTEES <br /> requesting the Council� s consideration on the following; <br /> 1. Flasher type signals on Alameda de las Pulgas entrance. <br /> 2. �'our way stop signs on the Alameda de 1 as Pulgas and Whipple intersection. <br /> Councilman Royer moved that this be referred to the Traffie Faet Finding Committee, seconded <br /> � <br /> by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> �� <br /> COIINCILNlAN ROYER corrunented on the need for F'ENCE3 ad3acent to HAWES PA:RK. This is the area which <br /> is under consideration for exchange with the School for property at Goodwin School. The <br /> area in question is back of the Johnson Street part of Hawes Park and should the City in- <br /> stall. fencing the School will repay the City if and when the exchange of property is com- <br /> pleted. Councilman Royer then moved that City Manager contact School Superintendent <br /> Spinas and get a commitment from him regardin payment of cost of the fences, also to dis- <br /> cuss the type of fence the School peopl.e would prefer. The motion was seconded by Council- <br /> man Stout and carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN ROYER discussed the RED �0 NE ON �iHIPPLE AVENUE AT EL CAMINO REAL where it created a <br /> problem in that area and suggested the possibility of installing signs prohibitin� parkin� <br /> from 7 A.M. to 9 A.M. and from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. as a possible solution. - After discussion <br /> � Councilman Spillers moved that matter be refe�red back to the Traffic Fact Finding Committee <br /> �" to see whether something could be worked out. Motion seconded by Councilman Jones and <br /> carried. <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT referred back to the REPORT ON THE CITY DUMP OPERATION and stated that he <br /> �, should move fast to secure the scrap metal sheets if the Council were willing to authorize <br /> � <br /> � the purchase. Councilman Stout moved tha.t purchase be authorized subject to the Council <br /> Committee� s approval, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. <br /> RESOLUTION 1755 TRANSFER FROM 19�.L�.
