<br /> � ON ROLL CALL the following were present: Councilmen Carl A. Britsch gi, Floyd D. Granger, Paul
<br /> ,� Jones, Vffilliam H. Royer, Robert V. Spillers, H iram S. Stout, Mayor Sidney D. Herkner and
<br /> Clerk R. S. Dodge. Also present were City Attorney C. B. Currie, Water Superintendent
<br /> H. L. Winter, Building Inspector S. H. Kreiss, Assistant Building Inspector B. C . Gyselbrecht,
<br /> Fire Chief J. L. Lodi and Senior Civil Engineer I�elvin Moen.
<br /> PUBLIC HEARING PROPOSED' TRUCK ROUTES. Mapor Herkner announced that public hearing was for the
<br /> purpose of hearing from the citizens as to their thinkin� and desires regarding truck routes
<br /> throu�h the City. The Council indicated that they would listen to anyone interested in an
<br /> effort to get the pulse of the people on this important matter. The hearing would be more
<br /> or less informal and the audience was requested to refain from booing and clapping. It ap-
<br /> peared that only a small section of the proposed routes �rere of a controversial nature.
<br /> Col. Louis �fieiss, representing the Peninsula Civic Lea�ue, read a prepared statement in
<br /> � _
<br /> which he su�gested greater publicity be given the matter and a more comprehensive study be
<br /> made before any conclusions were reached. The Ma.yor stated that no deeision was to be
<br /> �
<br /> made tonight arid there would be more public hearings. Mr. 1Nalter l�urphy, who stated that
<br /> he had been associated with transportation matters for several years, spoke alon� the lines
<br /> of load distribution, numbers of axles, ma.ximum weights, etc. He called attention to the
<br /> �
<br /> California �ode which specified the weights on axles and added that if loads were properly
<br /> � distributed a minimum damage �vould result. Mrs. E. 0. Johnson, 2033 Oregon Avenue, stated
<br /> that a heavy truck and trailer had been parking on her street overnight, and the Mayor
<br /> stated that this was againat the present ordinance and she requeated to notify the Police
<br /> upon any recurrence of this practice. Clarence C. Brown, 115 Alameda de las Pulgas, com-
<br /> mented on trucks operating on the Alameda between Edgewood Road and Whipple Avenue in front
<br /> of Sequoia Hospital thus establishing traffic hazards, especially when ambulances were
