� �1 <br /> RESOLUTION 1772, TRANSFERRING FROM CAPITAL PROJECT FUND, UNALLOCATED �190.89 FOR INSTALLING <br /> WATER SERVICE AT MADDUX PARK, was offered by Councilma.n Spillers who moved adoption, sec- <br /> onded by Councilman Royer and carried on roll call. <br /> RESOLUTION 1773, TRANSFERRING GENERAL RESERVE FUND TO GENERAL FUND ACTIVE ACCOUNT, was offered <br /> by Couneilma.n Britsch�i who moved adoption, secon.ded by Councilman Spillers and carried <br /> � on roll call. <br /> i�,,,, LETTER WAS RECEIVED FROM CITY OF ALAMEDA REGARDING NOTICE RECEIVED FROI� THE CORPS OF ENGINEERS, <br /> U. S. Army, referring to request of the Port of Oakland for permit to perform dredging� and <br /> filling operations on the southwesterly side of Bay Farm Island which the City of Alameda <br /> � <br /> claims would constitute a threat to the construction of the southern crossing. Councilman <br /> Stout moved this matter be referred to the City i�anager to study an.d report back to the <br /> � <br /> Council at the meeting of October L}th, seconded by Councilman Britschgi. Councilman Gran�er <br /> stated that there should be no interference with the southern crossing and the Council�s <br /> sentiments should be conveyed to the proper officials, motion carried� Councilmen Granger <br /> and Spillers voting NQ. Councilma.n Granger then moved that the City Manager notify the <br /> proper authorities that the City Gouncil went on record as opposing any program which would <br /> interfere with the southern crossing. Councilman Spillers seconded the motion.which <br /> carried. <br /> COUI�TCILMAPT JONES INQUIRED AS TO THE PRESENT STATUS OF THE JEFFERSON AVENUE BRIDGE CONTRACT and <br /> was informed that the contractor had been notified of the 10 day extension to his working <br /> contract. <br /> MAY�R HERKNER STATED 'I�iAT APPOINTNiENTS TO THE PERSONNEL BOARD would be taken up at the Council <br /> "� meeting of October L}th. <br /> �"" BUILDING INSPECTOR KREISS INTRODUCED THE NEI�f�' ASSISTANT MR. DOUGLAS LEI'gi. <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMNLCTTEE RECOMIVlENDATION REGARDING PROPOSED LEFT HAND TURN STORAGE LANE, <br /> ` OAKPi00D-DUIYIBARTON AND EL CAMINO REAL INTERSECTION. The Committee has determined that the <br /> problem at this intersection is protection of pedestrians crossing at E1 Camino and not <br /> one of left turn movements. The Committee strongly recommends �against the install ation of <br /> turn stora�e lanea at this location, and they suggested that the State be advised that <br /> there are several other intersections on E1 Camino Real which are within the City and pre- <br /> sent a far greater problem than the one suggested. Councilman �Stout moved acceptance of <br /> the recommendations, seconded by Councilman Spillers and carried. <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COiViMITTEE RECO MMENDATION REGARDING PROPOSED WIDENING OF HOPKINS AVENUE VflEST <br /> OF NEVADA. The Traff ic Committee does not find that the expenditure would be �ustifisd at <br /> � this time and recommends that any improvement be deferred. Councilman Stout moved approval <br /> j�, of recornmendation, seconded by Councilman Jones. Councilma.n Britschgi called attention to <br /> ` the statement made in the Traffic Committee report to the eff'ect that accident rate at this <br /> location is negl3.gible. He objected to withholding action until accidents occurred which <br /> would eventuall9 bring the attention of the Council back to the problem at hand. Motion <br /> � <br /> carried. <br /> �r <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COiVIDIIITTEE RECQ�:MENDATIONS REGARDING NO PARKING ZONE NORTH-EAST SIDE PENNSYL- <br /> VANIA AVENUE BETWEEN WINSLQW AND JE�+'FERSON AVENUE. The Traffic Committee recoramended that <br /> no parking zone be established at the northeasterly side of Pennsylvania Avenue between <br /> �ffinslow and Jefferson Avenue to eliminate the hazard caused by the parking of vehicles on <br /> this narrow street. <br />
