_ t1
Councilraan Royer moved that the necessary authority be given to cover the fence and that a
joint agreement be prepared for 3oint use of School and City properties. Councilman Granger stated that in his opinion a special effort
should be made to secure the services of a stenographer who would be capable of taking the „,,;
council minutes.
COUNCILMAN GRANGER INQ,UIRED AS TO THE PRESENT STATUS OF BROADWAY SIDEWALKS JOB AND VIiAS INFORMED
that the contractor was expected to return the signed agreement and bonds by the end of this

week.
_
COUNCILMAAt GRANGER DISCUSSED THE MATTER OF LIQUOR PERMITS AND WAS INFORMED that the Planning
Corcunission has the power to grant and deny use permits.
COUNCILMAN ROYER BROUGHT UP THE MATTER OF IE PROPOSED TRUCK ROUTE ORDINANCE calling attention to
the fact that truck operators were about to bid on fill jobs on the Bayshore Highway. In
his opinion Council should decide something so that the truck operators would know where
they stood before bidding on these jobs. Councilman Britschgi called attention to the gen-
eral understanding to the effect that truckers hauling through the City from some outside
points to outside points should use the state highway system. Where deliveries were made
within the City they should be fully infomed as to the routes they would be a1loved to
use. Councilman Royer was of the opinion that in fairness to truck operators they should
be informed as to what their rihts would be. After further discussion Councilman Graner
moved that in order to indicate the thinking of the Council that a plan would be adopted '
establishing truck routes to take care of deliveries in the City, deliveries through the '
City to outside points to be confined to the state highway system. It was understood that
a vote in favor of Councilman Granger s motion was for informa.tive purposes only. Further
discussion followed during which Councilman Spillers called attention to the eneral under-
standing that the C ouncil would make a further study with the truck operators as well as
citizens interested. It was noted that public hearing will be held at the time the ordi-
nance was up for adoption. The present motion was to alert the people and any changes
considered necessary could be made at the time of the public hearing. Councilman Brit-
schgi seconded Councilma.n s motion. Mayor Herkner questioned the nscessity for this
motion as d,id Councilman Stout and Spillers.
