The following bids were received: � Ajax Roof Company 1,28'j,04 Stevenson-Pacific 1; 76:00 Jessup Company 2,�+90.00 Fire Chief Lodi recommends acceptance of the bid of A�ax Roof Company, concurred in by City A�anager Rolison. Stevenson-Pacific protested the awarding on the grounds that there were no subcontractors listed in the A3ax bid and he claims that a roofing contractor does not have a license for sheet metal work, painting or general contract work. City Attorne�r Currie advises that there �as nothing in the °call for bids to indicate that the low bid was not acceptable. In his opinion the bid was proper. Councilman Britsch�i moved award- ing of bid to the A�ax Company inasmu.ch as the proper authorities indicate the bid is in order. Motion seconded by Councilman Stout and carried. REPORT ON BID �PENING, PURCHASE TANDEM ROLLER. Mr. Jain recommended the acceptance of the low bid of Western Traction Company for `a Galion 3 - 5 tandem roller at a net cost of �2,852.85. Councilman Granger stated that the records would show �hat all sidewalks in the area should be fixed up at the City�s expense. Councilman Stout moved that the matter be stud- s� ied and considered further &t the October 25th meeting. There was no second to this motion. � Cit�r Engineer Jain reported that he had prapared a report indicating the conditions through- out the �business area. He had contacted aeveral contractors �rho apparentl� were unwilling to bid on this type of work, the repairs being scattered widely through the area. Council- man Granger moved that the Couneil establish a definite policy to make every effort to correct the hazards in the business area at the City� s expense.
