<br /> Assistent City Attorney Chester Lebsack, Administrative Assiatant prrin E. Wendling,
<br /> Senior Civil Engineer Melvin Moen, Police Chief Stanley Wood, Water Superintendent Lisle
<br /> Winter, Assistant Building Inspectors Stephen Kreiss and B, C. Gyselbrecht.
<br /> PUBLIC HEARING ON APPLICATI�N TO REZONE SIFFORD PROPERTY, CdRNER ALAMEDA DE LAS PULGAS AND
<br /> JEFFERSON AVENUE. The hearing was continued from March 8th meetin. Mayor Granger an-
<br /> nounced the cont3.nuation, and the follow�.ng again protested the rezoning:
<br /> Mr. Barnhauser, 3114 Jefferson Avenue,
<br /> Mr. �c Mrs. Jack Perrins, 3221 Jefferson Avenue.
<br /> Councilman Royer called attention to the fact that the Planning Commission had recommen-
<br /> ded amendment to ordinance requi.ring use permits for all gasoline stations. Protestanta
<br /> �,,, were against rezoning to business, preferring the holding to residential zone. Council-
<br /> man Britschgi again stated his thought that �lameda de las Pulgas should be the dividing
<br /> �
<br /> line, this being a natural barrier to further business expansion. Councilman Jones was
<br /> also of the opinion that residential areas should be kept intact insofar as possibls
<br /> consistent with population demands. After f�.irther discussion, Councilman Britschgi
<br /> moved close of hearing, seconded by Councilman Royer and carried. Councilman Jones then
<br /> moved denial of applicat3.on, seconded by Councilman Britschgi and carried on roll call.

<br /> REAtL ES TATE COMMITTEE REGARDING B. H. COOPER�S REQUEST TO Lot on eorner of Ruby and
<br /> Oak Avenue. Councilman Herkner reported that the co�mnittee had looked over the situation,
<br /> but found that the lot in question would be only 1}2� x 611 , far below the minimum re-
<br /> quirements. Commj.ttee recommendation was to deny the request, even though they sympa-
<br /> thized with Mr. Cooper and �ould like to help him if at all possible.
<br /> Councilman Herkner then moved denial, seconded by Councilman Royer, Mr. Cooper appreared
<br /> �
<br /> and explained that he was under a severe handicap due to the extraordinary assessment.
<br /> �
<br /> Monthly installments on his home had been raised from �68 to �95 per month, and his
<br /> desire was to sell off the rear portion of his lot so that the assessment could be paid
<br /> off. After further discussion, motion was withdrawn, and the Real Estate Committee will
<br /> �'""" go into the matter further in an effort to work out some plan which will offer relief to
<br /> i�,w Mr. Cooper.
