CALLAN, County Supervisor, congratulating the ne�ly elected Councilmen <br /> was read and the City Clerk was directed to acknowledge with thanks. <br /> APPOINTMENT TO PLANNING COMMISSION. The Council had agreed on the name of Carl S�ober�, <br /> �.17 Hudson St�eet, to fill the term of Francis Britschgi who resigned, having recently <br /> � <br /> moved away from the City. Councilman Spillers moved appointment, seconded by Councilman <br /> �r.r <br /> Britschgi and carried. <br /> PROGRESS PAYIVIENT No. 2 to JOHN C. THROCKMORTON. The amount due as determined by the City <br /> Engineer and Park Superintendent is �2,143.89. Payment was authorized on motion of <br /> � <br /> Counci�man Britschgi, seconded by Councilman Spillers. Motion earried. <br /> �"' MAYOR HERKNER REQUESTED that the Flood Control and Police Expansion Committee get to �ork <br /> as soon as possible and come up with suggestions to enable the Council to get to work <br /> on these pro�ects. <br /> COUNCIL�AN SPILLERS was excused and left the meeting a� 10;40 P. M. <br /> TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEEtS RECONlMENDATION regarding Stop signs, Brewster Avenue at <br /> Opal and Hillview Avenues. Councilman Britschgi reported that this matter had been <br /> discussed further at the recent Traffic Study Comrni.ttee meeting. In a communication <br /> received from the Traffie Committee they were still of the opinion that the conditiona <br /> have not changed and stop signs are not warranted as now installed. Councilman Britschgi <br /> moved that stop signs be taken off Brewster Avenue at Opal and Hillview Avenues on the <br /> recommendation of the Traffic Study Cominittee, seconded by Councilman Granger and carried. <br /> .��. TRAFFIC FACT FINDING COMMITTEE�S RECOMMENDATIONS (a) PARALLEL PARKING ON ARGUELLO STREET. <br /> �,,,� <br /> Traffic Study Committee recommended that the parallel parking remain on the west side <br /> of Ar�uello for the reason t hat a survey presently bein� conducted in the vicinity of the <br /> new Safeway Store will result in their recommending parallel parking in the other <br /> streets in the area. Councilman Granger moved approval, seconded by Councilman Stout <br /> and carried. (b) FRANKLIN STREET PARKING. Traffie Committee recommended two hour <br /> meters being plaeed at five parking spaces on each side of Franklin Street ad�acent to <br /> James �venue to serve the merchants in that area, and that all other meters on both <br /> sides of Franklin Street be removed. This will provide approximately fifty additional <br /> parkin� spaces for cormnuters use. Councilman Britschgi moved approval, seconded by <br /> Councilman Royer and carried. (c) BAY3HQRE INTERSECTIONS SOUTH OF CHESTNUT STREET. <br /> Traffic Study Committee has written a letter to the State Division of Hig�ways requeat- <br /> ing their assistance in the elimination of left turns at Charter Street and Bayshore <br /> � <br /> Highway and the signalizations of intersections of Charter Street and Bayshore Hi�hrvay, <br /> � <br /> Fifth Avenue and Bayshore Hi�hway and Marsh Road and Bayshore Highway. The matter wa� <br /> p,laced on the agenda for the first meeting in June for further report. <br /> PLANNING COMMISSI�N'S RECOMiV�NDATION REGARDING resubdivision of corner of Harcross Road and <br /> !� Fernside Street into one lot 79� x 1451 and one 60' x 160� sub�ect to the following <br /> f <br /> � conditions: <br /> 1. Extending the 8" sewer fram Lot 1�5, Block 27, Sterling Highlands for a distance of <br /> 60 feet on Fernside Street. <br /> 2. Provide lamphole and sewer lateral �o corner lot. <br /> 3.
