City Attorney advised that the amendment would be ready for ,,,� <br /> introduction at the May 3rd meeting. <br /> COUNCILMAN BRITSCHGI REFERRED back to the matter of a Drug Company dispo�ing of garbage in <br /> a disposal unit �hich results in ground garbage draining into the sanitary sexers. It <br /> � <br /> developes that several homes have been inatalling disposal units and it is thought that <br /> � <br /> this might present a problem some time in the future. This matter will be given some <br /> thought and will be discussed at a later date. ' <br /> COUNCILMAN GRANGER REFERRED T 0 THE MAYOR�S REMARKS earlier in the evening regarding the items <br /> removed from the tentative agenda and turned over to the City Manager for handling. <br /> In his opinion when communications were received addressed to the Council such communi- <br /> cations should be brought to the Council� s attention. Mayor Herkner stated that all <br /> such items were eonsidered at a meeting in the Cit� Managerts office every Friday at <br /> 1:30 P. M. and any member of the Council was welcome to sit in at th3.s meeting. The <br /> object of this meeting is to take some work off the Council and in his opini,on the City <br /> Nlanager is responsible for all administrative matters and should be �iven the opportunity <br /> to answer such corarnunications w ithout referring to the Council. It was decided that <br /> people should be notified of any action taken either on the part of t he Gity Manager or � <br /> of the City Council. �+ <br /> COUNCIZMAN ROYER DISCUSSED THE MA3'TER OF THE SON OF T HE LATE RICHARD DRIVON, Fire Marshal, <br /> who is anxious to get out of the service. Councilman Royer believes this merits the <br /> assistance of the Mayor or the City Council and suggested that the Mayor write a letter <br /> asking consideration. This program is being carried on in connection with other hard- <br /> ship cases. Councilman Granger stated he had advised the boy as folZowa: First to <br /> get a letter from his doctor outlining the condition of his wife. Second, secure a <br /> letter from two jud�es. Third, secure a letter from the Fire Chief and the Mayor. Fire <br /> Chief Lodi has already prepared such a letter. It was decided that everything possible <br /> would be done to assist the young man. <br /> COUNCIZMAN ROYER REP�RTED that Mr. Spinas and himself looked over the Goodwin property and <br /> requested that the City En�ineer sketch possible sites on the School map. � <br /> COUNCILMAN STOUT RE�,UESTED that the Yacht Harbor Committee, which has already besn appointed, <br /> ,�..� <br /> expedite the proposed program as soon as possible. <br /> APPOINTMENTS TO TI3E PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION. Mrs. Louise Tornell has been recommended <br /> by the City Manager to fill the unexpired term of Mrs. Elouise Campbell, expiration <br /> �� <br /> date April 12, 1�58. He also recommended the appointment of Mr. Alyn Beals for the <br /> , .,� <br /> unexpired term of Mr. Hiram S. Stout, expiration date April 12, 1955� and Gerry <br /> Verssen for the unexpired term of I�r. Ralph Case, expiration date April 12, 1958. <br /> Recommendations were approved on motion of Councilman Spillers, seeonded by Councilman <br /> Britschgi and carried. <br /> APPOINTMENT TO THE PORT COMMISSION.
