MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST <br /> A. Vice Mayor Howard reminded everyone to vote on November 5, 1996. <br /> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 8. STAFF REPORTS <br /> A. Staff Report on the WHIPPLE AVENUE GRADE SEPARATION PROJECT. Council <br /> consideration of options and direction to staff. (100) <br /> Mayor Hartnett announced that due to the late hour and the length of staff's presentation <br /> of the Whipple Avenue Grade Separation Project, this item would be postponed to another <br /> ~ Council Meeting at the earliest possible time. Mayor Hartnett said this was a huge project <br /> and a serious issue. He briefly discussed the availability of state funding and described <br /> what the City needed to do to lock in that money. <br /> Councilman Ruskin asked that staff arrange on-site field trips for the Council <br /> accompanied by knowledgeable engineers to become familiar with all the options within <br /> the entire area, before the matter comes to Council for consideration. Councilman Ruskin <br /> asked staff about impacting property values, and offered to gather his own infonnation on <br /> that subject. <br /> MEMO 11/5/96 <br /> Vice Mayor Howard asked for information regarding interruption of traffic, train <br /> schedules, gates and timing. <br /> MEMO 11/5/96 <br /> Mayor Hartnett announced that George McKibbin had been waiting all evening for a <br /> chance to speak to this issue and called upon him at this time. <br /> George McKibbin, 160 F.
