7. MATTERS OF COUNCIL INTEREST
A. Councilman Leipzig referred to City Manager Everett's letter responding to the issue of
Council/Redevelopment Agency interest in the property occupied by the now closed Taco
Bell on James and El Camino Real, the north western entry to Sequoia Station.
In response to Council questions, City Manager Everett and Redevelopment Agency
Director Church described developers, past and present, and their interest in securing that
property, and possibly the one next to it, without success. City Manager Everett explained
that developers have advised the corner lot was too small for any kind of development, and
added that if the Redevelopment Agency became involved, eminent domain proceedings
would probably have to be used.
Council Members Leipzig and Ruskin discussed the need to improve the access to James
Street and Sequoia Station and the appearance of the intersection of James Street at El
Camino Real, and asked staff to gather more infonnation on price and availability of the old
Taco Bell site and the property next to it.
MEMO 11/19/96
B.
