Councilman Claire reported on the Council Facilities Committee meeting held that <br /> afternoon to discuss the new Redwood Shores School, Community Center and Park. He <br /> advised that the costs for the Park project had escalated and the bid package coming to the <br /> Council in the near future would contain several alternatives. Councilman Claire advised <br /> that residents of the Redwood Shores neighborhood have expressed concern that the Park <br /> would not have the amenities the Council had originally promised. <br /> In response to Mayor Hartnett's questions, Councilman Claire said the original <br /> specifications would put the Park project considerably over budget. Therefore, several <br /> items had been pulled out of the bid package and will be offen~~d as alternatives. This <br /> project will come before the Council in January. <br /> B. Mayor Hartnett announced that Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community <br /> Services Superintendent Corinne Centeno had been named Athena Business Woman of <br /> the Year by the Redwood City-San Mateo County Chamber of Commerce, and will be <br /> feted at a community dinner in January. <br /> C. Vice Mayor Howard announced that the Redwood City Police Officers and Firefighters <br /> - are conducting their annual Toy Drive, and will host a toy wrapping party at "Toyland", <br /> 850 Main Street (between Middlefield and Broadway) on December 18 and 20, 1996. She <br /> invited everyone to join in the toy wrapping fun. Redwood City 2000 Healthy Community Strategic Planning: Community Action Team <br /> Report on progress, including a video presentation of the Redwood City 2000 Town Hall <br /> meeting held on October 19,1996. <br /> REPORT: Community Action Team, Beth Ross, December 16, 1996 <br /> Redwood City Police Captain Granucci, representative of the Coordinating Committee <br /> of Redwood City 2000, presented the Report which described the Council's commitment <br /> to support the goals of Redwood City 2000. <br /> Mark Manuel, representative of the 35-member Community Action Team, provided an <br /> '--0 update on the progress of Redwood City 2000 which is coordinating the development of a <br /> 5-year strategic plan to improve the health and quality of life in Redwood City.
