__ __ _.� , ._ ���. �. �. <br /> 1.16 RESPONSIBILITY FOR UNDERGROUND FACILITIES AND OVERHEAD LINES <br /> A. Attention of bidders is specifically directed to the responsibility for the care and protection of previously <br /> installed underground facilities and overhead electrical and communication lines including storm drains, <br /> sanitary sewers, water mains, utility ducts, and appurtenant structures underlying the roadway <br /> improvements and overhead utility lines to be constructed. <br /> B. Contractor shall be solely responsible for the protection and care of such facilities. Any damage to such <br /> facilities discovered during the course of the work and/or final inspection of the work shall be repaired or <br /> replaced by Contractor to the satisfaction of the City Engineer at no additional expense to the contract <br /> prior to acceptance of the work. <br /> C. All existing underground utilities, overhead utilities, and other improvements are not necessarily shown on <br /> the plan. The Contractor shall notify utility companies at least two (2) working days in advance of <br /> construction to field locate utilities. Call Underground Service Alert (U.S.A.) at 1-800-642-2444. It shall <br /> be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the existence and location of existing utilities. Any <br /> costs incurred as a result of Contractor's failure to verify locations of existing utilities shall be borne by the <br /> Contractor. <br /> 1.17 DUST CONTROL <br /> A. Contractor shall take appropriate steps such as watering to prevent airborne dust due to work under this <br /> contract. <br /> B. Contractor shall remove and dispose daily, at his cost, off-site dirt, debris, waste and rubbish from the <br /> work area and the construction site. <br /> 1.18 CONTRACOTR'S INSURANCE/WORKER'S COMPENSATION <br /> See Section 00520,Agreement, paragraph 8 for Insurance and Indemnification requirements. <br /> 1.19 INSURANCE ON WORK AND MATERIALS <br /> The Contractor shall secure and maintain such direct damage insurance against such perils as the <br /> Contractor may deem necessary to protect the Work called for in this Contract including Work completed, <br /> material in place or to be used in the performance of this Contract and such other miscellaneous items as <br /> may be necessary to the performance of this Contract. <br /> 1.20 CERTIFICATES OF INSURANCE <br /> A. The Contractor shall furnish certificates of insurance to the City for all required insurance coverage. The <br /> certificate for Commercial General Liability insurance shall explicitly indicate that"x,""c,"and"u°coverage <br /> and contractual liability coverage are provided, even if both coverages are included in the Commercial <br /> General Liability policy form.A separate, executed additional insured endorsement shall be included with <br /> the certificates of insurance for Commercial General Liability coverage. <br /> B. Certificates shall also provide that not less than thirty (30) days advance written notice shall be given to <br /> the City in the event of cancellation. <br /> C. The Contractor shall provide its insurance brokers/agent(s)with a copy of these requirements and require <br /> that they provide all required certificates of insurance and endorsements to the City as required. <br /> D.
