9.A. - Page 3 <br /> A total of 30 applications were received for all seats for Council consideration. The <br /> Board of Building Review only received one application for two vacancies and staff <br /> consulted with the Mayor about this situation. It was decided that this recruitment be <br /> extended into Phase II to increase the pool of applicants. For the Planning Commission <br /> appointment three applications were submitted for three seats. <br /> The City Council reviewed all 30 applications between the dates of April 2nd and April <br /> 16th providing the names of candidates to interview only to the City Clerk. Those <br /> applicants selected by four Council Members were invited for interviews. Out of the 30 <br /> applicants, the City Council chose to interview 22 applicants (73.3%). Two applicants <br /> were unable to attend the interview session. <br /> On April 28, 2014 Mayor Gee and Vice Mayor Foust hosted a Boards Commissions and <br /> Committees orientation at City Hall preceding the City Council meeting. The goal was <br /> to provide information about the various work plans of each BCC, enable <br /> communication amongst applicants, and foment a better understanding of roles and <br /> responsibilities.
