7.5.A. - Page 2
• Public use of private parking lots (Walnut Creek)
o Staff is investigating whether an amendment to our Municipal Code is
required.
o Once staff understands the options available to us, we will contact the
Redwood City Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Business Group
and potentially coordinate a presentation by someone involved in Walnut
Creek's program.
ALTERNATIVES
1. Make changes to the proposed Ordinance and/or Resolution.
2. Do not adopt the proposed Ordinance and/or Resolution.
FISCAL IMPACT
The fiscal impact of each element in the parking implementation plan will be presented
to Council at such time as they are presented for approval. For those items under
consideration today:
• Permit program changes — the estimated change in revenues associated with the
permit changes is $216,000.
• Increase core rates to $1.00/hour — the estimated increase in revenues, minus
additional staff collection costs is roughly $630,000 per year for the metered
parking spaces. The estimated increase in revenues for the Marshall Street
Garage is $58,000.
ENVIRONMENTAL REVIEW
As the lead agency under CEQA, the City of Redwood City has determined that the
action recommended in this staff report does not constitute a project as defined by the
CEQA Guidelines.
JESSICA MANZI
SENIOR TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR
AARON AKNIN
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
ROBERT B.
