ATTACHMFNT 1 <br /> 7.1.A. - Page 18 <br /> TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br /> REDWOOD CITY AND <br /> CHIEF OFFICERS' ASSOCIATION (COA) <br /> RE: SUCCESSOR MOU <br /> work a fifty six (56) hour work week) and the employee becomes so severely ill <br /> that he or she exhausts his/her sick leave, the Human Resources <br /> DirectorPersonnel Officer may, upon the written recommendation from the <br /> employee's department head, authorize additional sick leave to include any sick <br /> leave in excess of the one-thousand two-hundred (1200) hours (2400 hours for <br /> Battalion Chiefs who work a fifty-six (56) hour workweek) maximum which <br /> may have been lost due to the maximum limitation; provided, however,that sick <br /> leave credits were not accumulated for a period of six (6)months or longer. This <br /> provision will also apply to Battalion Chiefs in cases where sick leave balances <br /> were decreased due to reassignment from a fifty-six (56) hour to a forty (40) <br /> hour work week. <br /> 16.1.9 If a supervisor believes there is an abuse of sick leave, the supervisor may <br /> require the employee to provide medical verification for all future sick leave <br /> absences for a period of ninety (90) days, upon written notification by the <br /> supervisor to the employee. <br /> 16.3 Military Leave <br /> The provisions of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act <br /> (USERRA) and Military and Veterans Code of the State of California shall govern the <br /> granting of military leaves of absence and the rights of employees returning from such <br /> leaves. <br /> 16.6 Maternity-Parental Leave of Absence Without Pay <br /> 16.6.1 Maternity Parental leave of absence without pay or benefits shall be granted upon <br /> request to non-disabled, qualifying probationary and regular female employees for the purpose of <br /> parent-child bonding following the birth of a child or the placement of a child in the employee's <br /> family for adoption or foster care for a that-period of time requested up to one (1) year. <br /> 16.6.2 Maternity Parental leave shall be granted when the following conditions have <br /> been met: <br /> 16.6.2.1 The employee shall notify his or her immediate supervisor in <br /> writing accompanied by her physician's certificate of pregnancy as <br /> Goon as possible after pregnancy has definitely been determined, <br /> but no later than ninety (90) days prior to the tentative date on <br /> which the leave is to begin. Such notice shall include the tentative <br /> dates on which the leave shall begin and end. <br /> Page 14 of 22 <br />
