7.1.A. - Page 53 TENTATIVE AGREEMENT BETWEEN <br /> REDWOOD CITY AND <br /> SERVICE EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION LOCAL 521 <br /> RE: SUCCESSOR MOU <br /> Memorial Day (observed on the last Monday in May) <br /> Independence Day <br /> Labor Day (observed on the first Monday in September) <br /> Veterans Day (observed November 11) <br /> Thanksgiving Day <br /> The Day After Thanksgiving <br /> Christmas Eve <br /> Christmas Day <br /> New Year's Eve <br /> Two administrative holidays and such other days as may be proclaimed local holidays. <br /> Administrative holidays may only be taken in eight (8) hour increments. At the option of the worker, <br /> a worker may receive pay at the worker's straight-time rate of pay in lieu of one or both of the <br /> administrative holidays at eight (8) hours per administrative holiday. In the event that one or both <br /> of the administrative holidays are not used by the last pay period paid in the year (based on the <br /> preceding 26 pay periods), payment will be made no later than the first pay period in February. <br /> Administrative holidays wiN not be-granted in 2013. <br /> 20.1 Sick Leave <br /> 20.1.1 Sick leave with pay shall be granted to all full-time, regular workers at the rate of one (1) <br /> working day (eight (8) hours) for each full calendar month of service from the <br /> commencement of their employment with the City, This is prorated for part-time workers <br /> regularly scheduled to work half time (20 hours per workweek) or more, <br /> 20.1.2 Sick leave shall be defined as the non-job related absence from work due to illness, bodily <br /> injury, exposure to contagious disease requiring the employee's absence (as determined <br /> by a physician), and caring of family members whose illness requires the worker's care. <br /> For the purpose of this article, immediate family means spouse, domestic partner (as <br /> defined and recognized under state law), child, stepchild, or parent. <br /> 20.1.10 Pursuant to Article 20.13 and City policy, a worker may also request family and medical <br /> leave if he/she is unable to perform his/her job because of a serious health condition, or <br /> needs to care for a child, following birth or placement, or needs to care for a spouse, child <br /> or parent who is seriously ill, <br /> 20.2 Industrial Disability Leave <br /> 20.2.1 A regular worker who is in the service of the City as of March 31, 1983, who suffers any <br /> disability arising out of and in the course of his/her employment, as defined by the <br /> Workers' Compensation laws of the State of California, shall be entitled to industrial <br /> disability leave without loss of compensation for the period of such disability to a maximum <br /> Page 7 of 20 <br />
