Mr. Frohlich raised issues having to
do with the Brown Act.
JeffFong, 1811 Madison Avenue, said his children could not play in ITont of their house
- because of the speeders on Madison, commented on staff's quoting "chapter and verse",
and asked that the Council approve a stop sign on Madison at the very least, based on the
unreported accidents and near misses.
Councilman Ruskin said he thought a 4-way stop sign might be the best solution but did
not want to delay installation of stop signs on Madison. He said he wanted to hear ITom
the residents how well the stop signs on Madison were working.
MEMO 2/13/96
Vice Mayor Howard advised she had spent considerable time in the neighborhood and at
that specific comer, and she observed three near misses in one hour. She asked that staff
monitor this situation.
MEMO 2/13/96
Council members thanked the neighbors for their patience and the Traffic Advisory
Committee for their work on traffic concerns in the City.
Councilman Leipzig noted his past Chairmanship of the Traffic Advisory Committee and
described the legal reasons why staff had to use the proper Warrant guidelines, described
I the difficult traffic issues in Redwood City and said traffic signs and pedestrian crosswalks
are only part of the solution.
L-
Regular Meeting Minutes
February 12, 1996 MINUTE BOOK NO. 54
Page 20 Page No. 087
