Final Acceptance of Rolison Area Street Light Additions removed by Councilman Ruskin; <br /> (304) <br /> REPORTS: City Engineer, February 12, 1996 <br /> In response to Councilman Ruskin's questions regarding the $4,206.44 listed in the Twin <br /> Dolphin/Shoreline Drive Traffic Signal change orders and the $2,362.87 listed in the <br /> Rolison Area Street Light change orders, City Manager Everett specifically described the <br /> utilities and such that were not identified on the existing maps and specifications, and <br /> when discovered necessitated additional costs. <br /> Councilman Leipzig renewed his objections to all change orders and requested that staff <br /> "sharpen their pencils" and do what it takes to avoid asking approval for change orders <br /> week after week. <br /> Councilman Claire said that in his ten years experience in the construction field in the <br /> private sector he never had a project come in below the estimate, and change orders of 2% <br /> to 20% were the norm. Councilman Claire said that although he agreed with Councilmen <br /> Ruskin and Leipzig about the number of change orders, the nature of the business <br /> necessitated change orders "if you want to get the job done."
