Designating the Redwood City Almanac as Redwood City's Official Newspaper removed <br /> by Mayor Hartnett; (304) <br /> In response to Mr. Wedgeworth's previous questions, City Clerk Jorgenson advised she <br /> had helped out at the Redwood City Almanac after Mr. and Mrs. Distefano, owners and <br /> editors of the Redwood City Almanac, were injured in an automobile accident in <br /> December. City Clerk Jorgenson advised that she had therefore designated Senior Deputy <br /> City Clerk Carolyn Kiely to handle all negotiations for designation of the City's official <br /> newspaper. <br /> In response to Mayor Hartnett's questions, City Clerk Jorgenson advised she had not <br /> been involved in the process or discussion of the bid or negotiations with the Almanac <br /> with respect to the bid for legal advertising. <br /> City Attorney Schricker asked City Clerk Jorgenson if she had received any fillancial <br /> remuneration for her assistance at the Almanac and she advised that she had not. <br /> Councilman Ruskin advised he had been privy to the discussions that had resulted in the <br /> recommendation to designate the Redwood City Almanac as the City's official newspaper <br /> and the decision was made solely on the basis of the merits of the case and the decision <br /> was an easy one. <br /> Mayor Hartnett added that the staff recommendation was based on price and <br /> performance, and that he and many other people in the community had contributed articles <br /> MINUTE BOOK NO.54 <br /> Page No. 072 Regular Meeting Minutes <br /> February 12, 1996 <br /> Page 5 <br />
