<br /> . . . - <br /> Mayor Hartnett read the proclamation and presented it to Battalion Chief Goodwin who <br /> received a standing ovation ITom the standing room only audience which included many, <br /> --- many representatives ITom the Redwood City Fire Department and Redwood City Police <br /> Department. <br /> Battalion Chief Goodwin thanked the Council and said he had had a great career. <br /> Vice Mayor Howard described the huge retirement party held March 8, 1996 for <br /> Battalion Chief Goodwin and Captain Cacciaroni who both recently retired. Vice Mayor <br /> Howard described the City plaques and the proclamations presented to both men and <br /> thanked them for their outstanding service to Redwood City. <br /> MEMO 3/12/96 <br /> B. Proclamation Honoring Eusebia "Seb" Umblas, Redwood City Finance Department for <br /> distinguished service, August 6, 1979 through March 8, 1996 upon her retirement; (207) <br /> Mayor Hartnett read the proclamation and presented it and the City plaque to Eusebia <br /> Umblas who also received a standing ovation. <br /> Seb Umblas thanked the City in general and the Council in particular for the support she <br /> received over the years during her career in the Finance Department. <br /> MEMO 3/12/96 <br /> '--- C. Veterans of Foreign Wars Annual Certificates of Appreciation to Redwood City Safety <br /> Personnel, Police Officer Dave Gough and Fire Captain Steve Krause; (207) <br /> Bob Page, Veterans of Foreign Wars, presented the VFW's annual Certificate of <br /> Appreciation to Police Officer Dave Gough calling him an "everyday hero." Mr. Page <br /> described Officer Gough's work with youth, how he has helped the homeless and how <br /> popular he is with the people on his Downtown beat. Mayor Hartnett described his ride <br /> along with Officer Gough and how impressed he was with Officer Gough's <br /> communication skills and his polite forcefulness. <br /> Officer Gough thanked the VFW for the Certificate of Appreciation and said he couldn't <br /> think of any other job he would rather have.
