DES:yc:l/13/78 • ORIGINAL R E S O L U T I O N NO. 7979 Jan 16, 1978 RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY ORDERING SUBMISSION OF AN ADVISORY MEASURE REGARDING THE REDWOOD CITY REAL PROPERTY CONVEYANCE TAX TO THE ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 11, 1978, AND EXPRESSING INTENTION OF THE COUNCIL TO COMPLY WITH THE MAJORITY VOTE OF THE ELECTORS VOTING THEREON BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF REDWOOD CITY, AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby order the submission to the electors of the City of Redwood City, in consolidation with the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Redwood City on Tuesday, April 11, 1978, the advisory ballot proposal hereinafter set forth. (a) All electors of the City of Redwood City qualified to vote at the General Municipal Election in the City of Redwood City on April 11, 1978, shall be qualified to vote on the advisory ballot proposal submitted at said election. (b) The polls shall be opened at seven o' clock a.m. on said day of election and shall be kept open continuously thereafter until eight o'clock p.m. of said day, when the polls shall be closed (except as provided in §14301 of the Elections Code) , and the election officers shall thereupon proceed to canvass the ballots cast thereat. (c) Where a voting system is used at said General Municipal Election, the provisions of Chapter 3, Division 11, of the Elections Code shall govern such usage, and the ballot card or other device shall be prepared (1) so that any qualified elector may vote for the advisory ballot proposal by punching or otherwise specifying an affirmative vote in a space provided therefor; and (2) so that any qualified elector may vote against any such advisory ballot proposal by punching or otherwise specifying a negative vote in a space provided therefor. 7 97 9
