CITY'PROPOSING <br /> CERTAIN AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF. THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY AND ORDERING SUBMISSION THEREOF TO THE <br /> ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AT THE GENERAL <br /> MUNICIPAL ELECTION OF APRIL 11, 1978; AND ADOPTING <br /> PROVISIONS OF THE ELECTIONS CODE PERMITTING REBUTTAL <br /> ARGUMENTS ON INITIATIVE ORDINANCES AND CITY MEASURES <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br /> AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. The Council of Redwood City does hereby propose, <br /> on its own motion, that those certain amendments hereinafter set <br /> forth be made to the Charter of the City of Redwood City, and does <br /> hereby order that such proposed Charter amendments be submitted to <br /> the electors of the City of Redwood City at the General Municipal <br /> Election to be held on Tuesday, April 11, 1978. <br /> (a) All electors of the City of Redwood City qualified to <br /> vote at the General Municipal Election in the City of Redwood City <br /> on April 11, 1978, shall be qualified to vote on the proposed <br /> Charter amendments submitted at said election. - <br /> (b) The polls shall be opened at seven o'clock a.m. on said <br /> day of election and shall be kept open continuously thereafter until <br /> eight o'clock p.m. of said day, when the polls shall be closed (except <br /> as provided in §14301 of the Elections Code) , and the election officers <br /> shall thereupon proceed to canvass the ballots cast thereat. <br /> (c) Where a voting system is used at said General Municipal <br /> Election, the provisions of Chapter 3, Division 11, of the Elections <br /> Code shall govern such usage, and the ballot card or other device <br /> shall be prepared (1) so that any qualified elector may vote for any <br /> Charter amendment proposition by punching or otherwise specifying an <br /> affirmative vote in a space provided therefor; and (2) so that any <br /> qualified elector may vote against any such Charter amendment <br /> proposition by punching or otherwise specifying a negative vote in <br /> a space provided therefor. <br /> 7978 <br />
