GENERALRURPOSE <br /> The LIBRE project seeks to increase immigrants' access to critical safety net services by <br /> linking immigrants to safety net services through education, outreach, support services, and <br /> legal assistance. LIBRE will accomplish this goal by supporting and training community-based <br /> o�ganizations that serve immigrants about eligibility for safety net services and dispel myths <br /> about the effects of such services on their immigration status. LIBRE will develop and provide <br /> outreach materials for community partners to distribute to their communities. Finally, through <br /> the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County (LASSMC), LIBRE will assist clients who need legal <br /> advocacy to access safety net services. <br /> This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) affirms the commitment of the CITY and <br /> LIBRE to work together to assist San Mateo County residents, with an emphasis on low-income <br /> immigrant individuals and families during the Term of this MOU, which is July 1, 2014 through <br /> June 30, 2015. <br /> II. OBJECTIVE <br /> The objective of this MOU is: <br /> A. To increase the CITY's ability to assist individuals and families in its community to <br /> apply for safety net benefits; and <br /> B. To contract with the CITY to assist immigrant individuals and families to apply for <br /> safety net benefits, to provide education and outreach to promote its services, and to refer <br /> individuals and families who need legal assistance to the appropriate LIBRE partner. <br /> III. ROLE OF THE CITY AND LIBRE <br /> A. CITY obligations: <br /> 1. Affirm fihat City of Redwood City/Fair Oaks Community Center (CITY) is a <br /> municipal agency that provides safety net services to individuals and families in Redwood <br /> City, North Air Oaks, Woodside, Atherton, and Portola Valley. <br /> 2. With support from LIBRE pa�tners, the CITY will provide outreach to 250 <br /> immigrants and distribute education materials to immigrant individuals and families retating <br /> to the potential availability of safety net benefits.
