' �EG_yc:10/2/61-10 <br /> . e <br /> �� <br /> ��I�rb( <br /> 6 i <br /> i <br /> O R D I N A N C E N O. <br /> " ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE CONSTRUCTION OF EMER- <br /> GENCY DISASTER SHELTERS IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY, DECLARING THE URGENCY TEiEREOF, TO GO INTO <br /> EFFECT IMMEDIATELY <br /> THE COUNCIL OF REDWOQD CITY DOES 022DAIN AS FOLLOWS: <br /> SECTION 1. Emercrency Disaster Shelter Defined. The term <br /> "'emergency disaster shelter" shall, for purposes of this ordinance, <br /> mean: A structure or structures constructed above or belaw the <br /> ground, designed for and having as its primary purpose the pro- <br /> tection of the inhabitants thereof from such disasters as blast, <br /> radiation, bombs, fallout, storms and fire. <br /> SECTION 2. Construction. The construction of emergency <br /> disaster shelters need comply only with the following ordinances: <br /> (a) Ordi.nance No. 925 (Building Code) <br /> {b) Ordinance No. 924 (Electrical Code) <br /> (c) Ordinance No. 877 (Plumbing Code) <br /> (d) Ordinance No. 951 (Gas Code) <br /> and shall, if constructed below the surface of the ground, be so <br /> located, marked, or b locked so that vehicles will not pass over <br /> it or shall be constructed with walls and roof of sufficient <br /> strength to support a load limit of H-20-44 as established by <br /> the "Standard Specif ications for Highway Bridges" adopted by the <br /> Arlerican Association of State Highway Officials in 1953 and as <br /> amended to date. <br /> SECTION 3. Location. Emergency aisaster shelters may be <br /> located at any place on any parcel of real property subject only <br /> to the following conditions: <br /> (a) No emergency disaster shelter shall be located <br /> within any street right of way, plan line or <br /> pub lic utility� storm drainage, sanitary sewer <br /> or water line easement. <br />
