� � ORIGiNAL 6.1.B. - Page 5 Healthy Schools initiative �� Sequda Heafd�care Dist�tct MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING FY 2015�16(Year� i.Parties The City of Redwood City,cttarter city and Municipal Gorporation of the State of C�ifomia, ("C1TY')will participate in ihis Memorandum of Understand'mg(MOU)with Sequoia Healthcare District,a govemmental enti#y in Redwood City,Cal'rfomia, ("SHD'. II.IntenE A critical need exists for consistent physical educaaon and physical activity opportuni6es for students during the scho�l day.By increasing physical activity during ihe schoot day,along with positive and c�nsistent health messages, it is anticipated that students will have greater physical fitness,improred self- esteem, bwer levels of anxiety and stress,aa�incr�eased sense of wenbeing,and improved academic achievement.SHD wishes ta provide funding�Or CITY to provide a program to the Redwood City Schoof District("RCSD')to assure tha#chiklren in the RCSD have access to physical education opportunities and the benefds a#tend�t thereta. It is intended that the CIN program curriculum will follow the PE+Program. In set�ng forth the goals and mutua!ob�Ctives of the parties to this Agreement�SHD and CITY recognize that RCSD is not a party to this Agreement and that the CITY's program funded by SHD cannot be carried out absent RCSD's cooperation and implementadon of the program. RCSD is�ot a party to this Agreement arxf in order to e#fectuate#his Ag�ment, RCSD would need to agree to the continued de(ivery of thi� Pro9ram and this agresment with CITY.
