Stnagel <br /> APRIL 13, 1992 <br /> Mayor La Berge announced that Councilmen Claire, Greenalch and Murray were unable <br /> to attend the meeting due to illness or being out of town. Councilman Stangel was <br /> attending another meeting and would join the Council shortly. In the meantime, <br /> Mayor La Berge advised that the items scheduled under Special Orders of the Day <br /> would be presented at this time. <br /> Vice Mayor Bury introduced his two granddaughters in attendance tonight: Katie <br /> Bury Allessandri from San Jose, and Elisabeth Bury Battin from the East Bay. <br /> Councilwoman Buchan presented a proclamation honoring the Week of the Young Child, <br /> April 5-11, 1992, and Worthy Wage Day, April 9, 1992 to Redwood City Child Care <br /> Coordinator Kristen Anderson, who brought many young people to the Meeting to thank <br /> the Council for their support. <br /> Mayor La Berge presented a proclamation in honor of the Redwood City Kiwanis <br /> Farmers Market to Norman Shapiro, who thanked the Council and the City Manager and <br /> his staff for all their assistance. <br /> Vice Mayor Bury presented a proclamation to Grady Burke, honoring his thirty years <br /> as a successful businessman in Redwood City and his extensive community <br /> involvement. Mr. Burke thanked the Council for this honor. <br /> Mayor La Berge announced that at this time the Council Members would report on <br /> their recent activities on behalf of the City. <br /> Councilwoman Buchan reported on the April 11th tree planting and clean-up at the <br /> Hoover School and Boys and Girls Club. Councilwoman Buchan advised this community <br /> event had the largest participation of all the Pride and Beautification Committee's <br /> clean-ups, with 100 children and adults pitching in to make Redwood City and their <br /> neighborhood a more beautiful place to live and go to school. <br /> Vice Mayor Bury described the Interservice Club Coordinating Council meeting on <br /> the 2nd Monday of every month at the Courthouse Cafe, and urged all service clubs <br /> to have their representatives present at this meeting to discuss upcoming events in <br /> Redwood City. <br /> Mayor La Berge advised that on April 10th in San Jose she attended the Children's <br /> Summit sponsored by the Governor's office and designed to discover how to overcome <br /> barriers to providing youth services.
