PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE - Board of Port Commissioners Chairman Smith <br /> ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> 4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS <br /> In response to Mayor Buchan's comments regarding the city's role in <br /> privately sponsored events, Assistant City Attorney Sorba advised everyone <br /> that the City was not a sponsor nor participant of the past weekend's <br /> Sunflower Festival, and was only required to issue permits for street <br /> closures for these types of events. <br /> A. Susan Keely, Canyon Road, Redwood City, expressed her disappointment <br /> with the quality of arts and crafts at the Sunflower Festival. <br /> B. Joe Steinfeld, Main Street merchant, member of the Downtown Association <br /> which sponsored the Sunflower Festival, described the two-day festival <br /> as successful, and accomplished without City funding. <br /> C. Bruce Doran, Washington Street, Redwood City, stated the festival was <br /> great, but the downtown merchants should stop squabbling with each <br /> other and the City. <br /> MINUTE BOOK NO. 51 <br /> Page No. 530 <br />
