Award of Bid re Telephone System Installation <br />Report: Community Development Director 4/11/88 <br />In answer to questi ons f rom Counci 1 , Char es Shaf sky, Presi dent of Advi sory <br />Communications Consulting and consultant to the City of Redwood City for <br />telecommunications, supplied specific and general information regarding bid <br />specifications and add -ons, the apparent disparities between on -site and <br />off -site switching equipment costs, and trunk l i n e and monthly charges. <br />Howard Baker, Business Manager, Redwood City Police Department, described <br />process of checking the reputation and reliability of the bidders, as well as <br />the satisfaction level of their customers. <br />(Councilman Bury left the meeting at 6:30 p.m.) <br />Maryanne Sullivan, Account executive of Pacific Bell, expressed her concern <br />that the Council did not receive an accurate picture of the Pacific Bell bid <br />as the the Centrex system is unique; the "add -ons" could have been included <br />in a Pacific Bell bid resulting in a lower cost than the present stand -alone <br />position; cost for the computer needed for Pacific Bell software is not <br />representative of available choices; Pacific Bell might have been able to <br />reduce the 312 Centrex lines if they had had more information; and there <br />might be discrepancies in the various bid packages due to the uniqueness of <br />the Centrex system. <br />Adj .Mtg. <br />4/19/88 <br />MINUTE BOOK NO. 48 <br />Page No. 38 <br />
