<br />JOINT USE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE <br />REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />AND THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />DlJPt.tC ATé <br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />THIS JOINT USE AGREEMENT ("Agreement") is entered into as of <br />2004, by and between the Redwood City School <br />Di ict, a publi chool district existing under the laws of the State of California <br />("District"), and the City of Redwood City ("City) <br /> <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Education Code Section 17052 authorizes school districts to enter <br />into joint use agreements with community organizations for the purpose of constructing <br />libraries, multipurpose rooms and gymnasiums on existing school sites where these <br />facilities are used jointly by both the school pupils and for community purposes, and <br />provides funding from the State Allocation Board for such projects. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the District desires to construct multipurpose facilities ("Facilities") <br />on the grounds of Roosevelt School, 2223 Vera A venue, Redwood City, CA. and on the <br />grounds of McKinley Institute of Technology, 400 Duane Street, Redwood City, CA , <br />school sites that are owned by the School District <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City, through its Parks, Recreation and Community Services <br />Department, is charged with the responsibility of providing the community with <br />recreation and enrichment services for adults and children. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the District and the City wish to provide facilities that will be <br />available for use by students and the general public for community purposes, in <br />accordance with the policies and procedures contained in this Agreement and such <br />additional policies and procedures as may be developed. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the District desires that it become a partner in the joint use of the <br />proposed Facilities under the terms and conditions set forth in State law and in this <br />Agreement. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the intent of the District and City to maximize the use of the <br />Facilities by allowing district-wide community access to the Facilities after school hours <br />and on weekends as much as practicable. <br /> <br />"'---'--."'---T"'" <br />
