JOINT USE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE REDWOOD CITY SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY DlJPt.tC ATé ORIGINAL THIS JOINT USE AGREEMENT ("Agreement") is entered into as of 2004, by and between the Redwood City School Di ict, a publi chool district existing under the laws of the State of California ("District"), and the City of Redwood City ("City) WHEREAS, Education Code Section 17052 authorizes school districts to enter into joint use agreements with community organizations for the purpose of constructing libraries, multipurpose rooms and gymnasiums on existing school sites where these facilities are used jointly by both the school pupils and for community purposes, and provides funding from the State Allocation Board for such projects. WHEREAS, the District desires to construct multipurpose facilities ("Facilities") on the grounds of Roosevelt School, 2223 Vera A venue, Redwood City, CA. and on the grounds of McKinley Institute of Technology, 400 Duane Street, Redwood City, CA , school sites that are owned by the School District WHEREAS, the City, through its Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department, is charged with the responsibility of providing the community with recreation and enrichment services for adults and children. WHEREAS, the District and the City wish to provide facilities that will be available for use by students and the general public for community purposes, in accordance with the policies and procedures contained in this Agreement and such additional policies and procedures as may be developed. WHEREAS, the District desires that it become a partner in the joint use of the proposed Facilities under the terms and conditions set forth in State law and in this Agreement. WHEREAS, it is the intent of the District and City to maximize the use of the Facilities by allowing district-wide community access to the Facilities after school hours and on weekends as much as practicable.
