<br />ORIGINAL <br /> <br />JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT <br />SOUTHERN SAN MA TE..QPOLICE AUTHORITY <br /> <br />BY AND BETWEEN THE CITY OF BELMONT, THE CITY OF FOSTER CITY, <br />THE TOWN OF HILLSBOROUGH, THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, <br />AND THE CITY OF SAN CARLOS <br /> <br />TInS AGREEMENT, dated [to be supplied], is entered into by and between the City of <br />Belmont, the City of Foster City, the Town of Hills borough, the City of Redwood City, and the <br />City of San Carlos, each duly organized and existing in the County of San Mateo, State of <br />California under the constitution and laws of the State. <br /> <br />WITNE S SETH: <br /> <br />WHEREAS, each of the Agencies is legally responsible for providing police services <br />within their respective jurisdictions; - <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the jurisdictional areas of the Agencies are developed to substantially the <br />same level of density and have similar requirements for tracking and managing of public safety <br />information; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the systematic sharing of police dispatch and records information between <br />the Agencies would substantially benefit the operational efficiency of each Agencys public safety <br />operations, to the substantial advantage and benefit of the citizens and taxpayers of all Agencies, <br />and such is the purpose of this agreement; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the above premises and of the mutual promises <br />herein contained, the Agencies do hereby agree as follows: <br /> <br />ARTICLE I - DEFINITIONS <br /> <br />Section 1.1. General. Unless the context otherwise requires, the words and terms <br />defined in this Article shall, for the purpose hereof, have the meaning herein specified. <br /> <br />Section 1.2. "Act". "Act'. means Article 1 and Article 2 (commencing with Section <br />6500) of Chapter 5, Division 7, Title I of the Government Code of the State. <br /> <br />Section 1.3. "Agencies" and "Agency". "Agencies'. means all of the parties to this <br />Agreement and "Agency" means any such party. <br /> <br />Section 1.4.
