<br />DES:dft 10/1~/93 (007/36) <br />10/ /93R <br />0 RIG I N A L 10/25/93 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />12090 <br /> <br />---------- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION COMMENDING DONNA WISHON, DEBORAH PATTERSON <br />AND ANN DUNBAR FOR EXEMPLARY AND HEROIC CITIZENSHIP <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />in the early morning hours of January 10, <br /> <br />1993, <br /> <br />while proceeding in their vehicle on Woodside Road in the City of <br /> <br />Redwood City, <br /> <br />Donna Wishon, <br /> <br />Deborah Patterson and Ann Dunbar <br /> <br />observed a number of male individuals engaged in a brutal fight <br /> <br />in Woodside Road in the vicinity of Massachusetts Avenue; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, upon approaching the scene of the altercation, they <br />observed that, notwithstanding that the victims of the fight had <br /> <br />incurred serious injuries, including stab wounds, the assailants <br /> <br />continued their vicious attack; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Ms. Wishon, Patterson and Dunbar, at great personal <br /> <br />risk, <br /> <br />intervened by distracting the assailants, protecting the <br /> <br />victims by interposing their own bodies between the assailants <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />victims, <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />eventually <br /> <br />dispersed <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />assailants <br /> <br />by <br /> <br />wielding a baseball bat at them; and <br />WHEREAS, although one of the victims ultimately expired as a <br /> <br />result of his wounds, the other victim survived solely through <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />intervention, <br /> <br />protection <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />collective <br /> <br />efforts <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />Ms. <br /> <br />Wishon, Patterson and Dunbar; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />following <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />aforesaid <br /> <br />events, <br /> <br />Ms. <br /> <br />Wishon, <br /> <br />Patterson <br /> <br />and Dunbar <br /> <br />continued <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />assist <br /> <br />authorities <br /> <br />in <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />investigation <br /> <br />which <br /> <br />ultimately <br /> <br />led <br /> <br />to <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />identification, <br /> <br />determination <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />guilt <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />sentencing <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />individual <br /> <br />responsible for the homicide; and <br />
