<br />DES 'ft l2/09/91 (Ol5/3l) <br />ORIGINAL <br />December 16, 1991 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />N O. <br /> <br />11660 <br /> <br />---------- <br /> <br />RESOLUTION OF INTENTION TO APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE <br />EXECUTION OF AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT BETWEEN THE BOARD OF <br />ADMINISTRATION OF THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT <br />SYSTEM AND THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br />RELATING TO CERTAIN BENEFITS FOR LOCAL FIRE MEMBERS <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the Public Employees' <br /> <br />Retirement Law permits the <br /> <br />participation <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />public <br /> <br />agencies <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />their <br /> <br />employees <br /> <br />in <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />Public <br /> <br />Employees' <br /> <br />Retirement <br /> <br />System <br /> <br />by <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />execution <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />a <br /> <br />contract, <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />sets <br /> <br />forth <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />procedure <br /> <br />by which <br /> <br />said <br /> <br />public <br /> <br />agencies may elect to subject themselves and their employees to <br /> <br />amendments to said Law; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />by contract between the Board of Administration, <br /> <br />Public Employees' Retirement System, and the Council of the City <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />Redwood <br /> <br />City, <br /> <br />effective <br /> <br />July 1, <br /> <br />1941, <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />subsequently <br /> <br />amended, <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />Redwood <br /> <br />City <br /> <br />has <br /> <br />provided <br /> <br />for <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />participation of its employees in said System; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the requirements of law, this Council <br /> <br />desires to give notice of its intention to approve an amendment <br /> <br />to said contract by adoption of a resolution containing a summary <br /> <br />of the change proposed therein; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />following <br /> <br />is <br /> <br />a <br /> <br />statement <br /> <br />of <br /> <br />the <br /> <br />proposed <br /> <br />change: <br /> <br />To provide the benefits of Government Code Section 20862.8 <br />(credit for unused sick leave) for local fire members only. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL FOR THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />11660 <br />
