<br />FXS:dft 12/5/90 (037/29) <br /> <br />o RIG I N A L <br /> <br />12/10/90 <br /> <br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N N O. 11462 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT, BECAUSE OF LOCAL <br />CONDITIONS, THE PUBLIC HEALTH, SAFETY, WELFARE AND <br />NECESSITY, REQUIRE CHANGES OR MODIFICATION TO CERTAIN <br />PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 12 OF THE CODE OF THE <br />CITY OF REDWOOD CITY AND ADOPTION OF THE "UNIFORM FIRE <br />CODE, 1988 EDITION," BY REFERENCE AS PUBLISHED BY THE <br />INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS AND THE <br />WESTERN FIRE CHIEFS ASSOCIATION, MODIFIED HEREIN, AND <br />MADE APPLICABLE TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of Section 50022.1, et <br /> <br />seq., of the Government Code, and Section 15 of the Charter of <br /> <br />the City of Redwood City, this Council proposes to adopt by <br /> <br />reference the "Uniform Fire Code, 1988 Edition," (hereinafter the <br /> <br />"Fire Code") as published by the International Conference of <br /> <br />Building Officials and the Western Fire Chiefs Association; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br /> <br />in connection therewith, <br /> <br />certain changes or <br /> <br />modifications are proposed to be made to the substantive <br /> <br />provisions of said Fire Code, which changes or modifications are <br /> <br />reasonably necessary due to local conditions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the changes and additions to said Fire Code, which <br /> <br />are proposed to be made clarify the Uniform Fire Code and in <br /> <br />certain <br /> <br />instances, <br /> <br />impose more <br /> <br />stringent <br /> <br />fire <br /> <br />protection <br /> <br />requirements relating to the installation and use (1) fire safety <br /> <br />apparatus, <br /> <br />devices, <br /> <br />systems <br /> <br />and <br /> <br />(2 ) <br /> <br />fire <br /> <br />detection, <br /> <br />products-of-combustion alarm devices, than are required by the <br /> <br />provisions of the 1988 Edition of the Uniform Fire Code; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Section 17958.7 of the California Health and Safety <br /> <br />Code requires insofar as such changes and additions relate to <br /> <br />apartment houses, hotels, motels and dwellings, and buildings and <br /> <br />r- <br />
