Dimmitt, all members of'the Conun- ission, Recreation Director Alfred Morton, and Super in- tendent'of Parks, Roger Walsh.- Absent: None. The meeting was called to order by Chairman Millington. " The minutes of the previous meeting were read and appro- ved, upon motion made, seconded, and carried. Chairman Millington reported a letter sent by the Conun- ission to City Manager Dimmitt, in accordance with a motion passed at the previous meeting regarding additional" grandstands at Hawes Park, and announced that the City Council had acted favorably on this recommendation at its meeting of January 17. Mr. Morton was called upon to itemize the expenses that would be involved in connection with the proposed Harbor Swim and the Cross Country Run, which were as follows: A. A. U ..Sanction for Cros~ -~ountry Run - - - $ 5. 00 A. A. U. Sanction for Harbor - -Swim - - - - - - 5.00 Official Ribbons - - --- - - - - - - - ~ - - - 6.00 Towels for Harbor Swim - - - - - - - - - - - - 5.00 Awards for Harbor Swim (1 Trophy and Awards for Cross Country (1 Trophy and , -. 6 Medals - - - - -- Run 6 Medals - - - - - - 25.00 25.00 Total - - - - $71.00 These events had been discussed at the previous meeting _and Mr. Hagan made a motion, seconded by Mrs. McAtee, and carried unanimously, that the Commission write a letter in accordance with . . the previous discussion to the Chamber of Commerce, recommending to them that they in turn recommend tc;>, the City Council the ex- penditure of $71.00 which would be necessary to hold the Cross Country Run and Harbor Swim as outlined above, from the City Advertising Fund, which is handled through the recommendation of the Chamber of Commerce.
