159 \ REDWOOD CITY PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION REOOUR ~TING, APRIL 4,1956 The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to order April 4 at 8 P.M. by Chairm~ Irving Gold. Present: CatheriM Brennen, Louise Tornell, Gerry Verssen, Willi~ Hanley, Maurice Schutz, Alyn Beals and Irving Gold. Also present: Pasco Balzarini, Alfred Morton and L. A. Kimball. MSC William Hanley and Alyn Beals that the minutes of the meeting of March 7 be approved as mailed. A letter dated April 4 received from L. A. Kimball, Secretary of Personnel Board, regarding equalized holidays for Park and Recreation employees. This matter is under consideration in the revised Personnel Rules and Regulations. Commissioner Williwm Hanley reported continued progress at Yacht Harbor. The City Manager has been authorized to call for bids for dredging and to call for bids for building the levee. Commiss.ioner Louise Tornell advised no further progress on the Park and Recreation Foundation. Park Supt. Pasco Balzarini reported that the trees with be planted on El Camino between Whipple and Brewster the week of April 9. Commissioner Maurice Schutz had no further information regarding addi- tionalland in the Farm Hills Subdivision. Park Supt. Balzarini reported no further progress on the turf at 2nd Avenue and Bay Road, Commissioner Hanley advised that further investigation is needed on the possibility of renovating the building at Mezes Plaza. Commdssioner Alyn Beals advised that current negotiations with the 4gers are progressing satisfactorily. Cost of fencing the training field will be approximately $12,000. Engineering costs will be approx1~tely $770. Park Supt, Balzarini and Recreation Director Morton report that Highlanders Little League is progressing in its plans to erect an equipment storage building at Community Park. Park Supt, Balzarini advise that surveyors have laid out the base lines at Hoover School for Little League fields.
