<br />. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />Minutes of Wednesday, August 26, 1992 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser, <br />Commissioners Davis, Howard, <br />Nordness, Swope and Truscelli <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />GUESTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Nita Spangler <br /> <br />Director Peter Griffiths and <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:35pm by Chairperson Bob Slusser in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />Commissioner Swope made a correction to the May minutes under IIMatters of <br />Co~ission Interest". The minutes should reflect that the Union Cemetery <br />work session followed a one hour workshop on June 6. The minutes of the <br />May meeting were approved as corrected. The minutes of the June meeting <br />were approved as mailed. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />-A letter was received from Commissioner Jerry Mortensen resigning his <br />position on the Parks and Recreation Commission. Chairperson Slusser <br />said Commissioner Mortensen served the Commission well during the past 12 <br />years and said his presence will be missed. Director Griffiths indicated his <br />letter of resignation will be presented at the August 31 City Council <br />meeting. Director Griffiths said a plaque will be presented to Mr. Mortensen <br />at a City Council meeting and he will advise the Commission of the date. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - Red Morton Center RFP Update <br /> <br />Director Griffiths explained the Red Morton RFP was mailed out to 26 firms <br />one month ago. Eight firms have been given tours of the Red Morton Center <br />by Supervisor Hannon, Recreation Center Supervisor Knight and Director <br />Griffiths. The following is a schedule of dates for the remainder of the RFP <br />process: <br /> <br />September 4 - RFPs due to Department <br />September 8-21 - Review and rate RFPs received <br />September 22-25 - Tally results of RFPs <br />October - Mail out letters to selected firms, select committee, etc. <br />November 17 - Interviews with selected firms <br /> <br />
