<br />"'" <br /> <br />l' <br /> <br />¡ <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION <br /> <br />Minutes of Wednesday, January 27,1993 <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: <br /> <br />Chairperson Slusser, <br />Commissioners Berone, Davis, <br />Howard, Hordness, Swope and <br />Truscelli <br /> <br />COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br />GUESTS PRESENT: <br /> <br />None <br /> <br />Mike Gibbons, Nita Spangler, <br />Lettie Distefano of RC Almanac <br /> <br />STAFF PRESENT: <br /> <br />Director Peter Griffiths and <br />Secretary Denise Monroe <br /> <br />The regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called to <br />order at 7:30pm by Chairperson Bob Slusser in Room 5 of the Community <br />Activities Building, 1400 Roosevelt Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br /> <br />APPROVAL OF MINUTES <br /> <br />A correction was made to December minutes in the IIComrnissioners Absentll <br />section. uChairperson Nordnessll was changed to IIComrnissioner Hordnessll. <br /> <br />CORRESPONDENCE <br /> <br />-There was no correspondence. <br /> <br />ITEM 1 - Red Morton Center RFP Update <br /> <br />Director Griffiths said the 11 month process of developing the RFP and <br />selecting the firm has finally been completed. Based on the extensive <br />experience in designing recreation/community centers, their ability to <br />interact with the public and solicit input, and recommendations from <br />other facility and building managers, the firm of Bull, Stockwell and Allen <br />was selected to prepare the pre-design/feasibility study for the Red Morton <br />Project. All the Commissioners reviewed the staff report which will be <br />discussed at the Joint Study Session with the City Council on Monday, <br />February 1. Commissioners Swope and Howard, who were members of the <br />selection panel, reviewed the selection process used to select the <br />finalists for the RFP. <br /> <br />M/S Davis/Swope: That the Commission endorse the recommendation of the <br />Red Morton Center Project Committee and based on the <br />experience of Bull, Stockwell and Allen, select them <br />as the architectural firm for the RFP. <br /> <br />Motion passed. <br /> <br />ITEM 2 - Fo~lize 92-93 Objectives <br /> <br />Commissioner Davis reviewed the Prioritized Objectives of the Park and <br />Recreation Commission for 1992-93 and said he would be presenting these <br />objectives at the Study Session on February 1. <br /> <br />
